Wastewater Rates

2013 Billing Rates (pdf)

Residential Wastewater (Sewer) Service Rates

Cottonwood’s monthly wastewater fees are based on the household’s previous year’s winter (November, December, January and February) water usage.

2012 Wastewater Service Rates For Cottonwood
0 to 5,000 Gallons - $43.71Base Fee
5,000 Gallons and up - $43.71 Plus $5.07/1,000 gallons

Here’s how wastewater rates are calculated:

If you used an average of 5,000 gallons of water or less during the previous year’s winter months, your monthly bill for wastewater services is a flat rate of $43.71 per month for the following year.

If, however, your household average winter water usage for the previous year was over 5,000 gallons per month, there is an additional charge of $5.07 for every thousands gallons above the 5,000. This $5.07 per thousands of gallons over the 5,000 is added onto the base rate of $43.71.

For example if during the previous winter your household used 5,000 gallons or less as a monthly average, your monthly wastewater bill will be set at $43.71 for the year.

In the case of a household that used an average of 7,000 gallons of water per month in the previous winter, their monthly wastewater bill (2 x $5.07 plus $43.71) would be $53.85 for the year.

Note that all new customers (without a previous winter’s water usage history) will be billed at a flat rate of $43.71 per month. Once the customer has a winter water history, their monthly wastewater rate will be adjusted accordingly for the following year.
